Stage 5 swimmers refine freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly while also working on building endurance through drills and by increasing the distance the participants swim. Swimmers should be able to swim 60 yards independently and 40 yards of freestyle and backstroke.
Stage 6 works on refining freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, and butterfly to increase speed and efficiency. Flip turns and open turns are introduced at this level. Upon completion, participants are able to swim 160 yards on any stroke or a combination of strokes.
