Annual Fund Drive

Dear Friend,

Thanks to you, the Cambridge YMCA continues to be a force for good in our community, and to continue doing that, we need your support.

Here are a few examples of how the Y, with your help, is making lives better in the Cambridge community:

  • For the past nine years, the Cambridge YMCA has collaborated with the Cambridge Police Department Youth & Family Services Unit to offer an At Risk Youth Boxing program that does far more than teach boxing skills and techniques. It provides mentor-ship and life lessons in a safe environment to youths referred from Juvenile Probation, the Cambridge School Department, the Home for Little Wanderers, and others. The results have been both significant and gratifying: our 900 graduates of At Risk Youth Boxing have all completed high school and stayed out of trouble, and many have continued on to college.
  • In that same boxing ring, the Cambridge YMCA is working closely with Parkinson’s patients from Beth Israel and Brigham & Women’s Hospitals in the hugely successful Rock Steady In addition to improving participants’ range of motion, flexibility, posture, gait, and activities of daily living, Rock Steady is providing an opportunity for these Parkinson’s athletes to make critical connections with each other, and offering the chance for those with the disease to fight back and be more than just patients.
  • Great work is happening everywhere inside our building. Our swimming pool is where infants and toddlers from our community receive their first swim lessons, and where, later in the day, older adults participate in water aerobics classes. The yoga studio offers over a dozen classes, from introductory restorative to a highly active power class. And our workout and exercise areas are bustling with adults of all ages utilizing state-of-the-art equipment independently, in classes, and with our Personal Trainers.

Our goal: to meet your needs in order to achieve our mission to promote and inspire life-long development for children, adults, and families through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all.

This is your Cambridge YMCA. Please consider giving to the Annual Appeal and help us to continue to make a difference in the community for many years to come.  Thank You!
